With the new Star Wars movie just around the corner, fans are counting down the days until the premiere of The Force Awakens instead of counting down the days until Christmas! It looks like the holidays came early for some Star Wars fans who are also Verizon Wireless Customers after they announced their customizable Droid Turbo 2. Starting December 11th, Verizon customers can create a customized Droid Turbo 2 using Moto Maker, either online or in stores. The customizable Droid Turbo 2 will feature several themed color palates and back plates to match characters from Star Wars: The Force Awakens including Poe Dameron, Rey, Kylo Ren, a First Order Storm Trooper, and even the BB-8. Theoretically, these color palates were possible prior to this announcement however with the help of professionals, fans can match the color palates perfectly to their favorite characters. To make their customization even more personal, fans can set matching wallpapers through an app that will be exclusive to Google Play.
Aside from the customizable Droid Turbo 2, Verizon has provided additional opportunities for their customers in other ways. Earlier this month, Verizon launched Star Wars themed Google Cardboards which were fairly popular amongst fans. They also announced that they will be China high-end fans manufacturers hosting a live stream from the Red Carpet at the World Premiere of the movie on December 12th. Viewers of the live stream had the ability to ask questions using Twitter and the hashtag "TheForceAwakens" in hopes of having their questions answered by the cast during the premiere. The mobile carrier also announced that they will be giving away 12,000 tickets to opening weekend showings which Verizon customers can enter to win by participating in "Theory Wars" at Theorywars.com.
While there are no actual Star Wars brandings on the Droid Turbo 2 hardware, fans can customize their color schemes and match them with the right wallpaper in order to show their support of the new movie which has been long awaited by many fans. Since most movie theaters aren’t allowing individuals to bring in their lightsabers for the movie premiere, Verizon at least provided their fans with the option to utilize their phones to show their support and make their friends jealous.
